Facilitators and Barriers to Health among Young Children with Down Syndrome
You are being invited to complete this survey as part of a research study. The purpose of this research study is to describe the eating, activity, and sleeping habits of young children with Down syndrome. Children with Down syndrome have high risk of obesity. We want to learn about your routines and barriers to health (in the areas of nutrition, activity, and sleep patterns) so that we can design a program to help families overcome these barriers. For that reason, we will be surveying parents of young children with Down syndrome and asking them to complete this questionnaire. We expect it will take about 15 minutes of your time.
To be eligible to participate, you must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- have a young child aged 1 to 5 years with a diagnosis of Down syndrome
- be fluent in English
- have access to the internet
If you are willing to participate, our questionnaire will ask about family background (e.g. age, race, education), child routines and your feelings about the health of your child. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project, nor are there any direct benefits to you. This is an anonymous questionnaire, so your responses will not be identifiable in any way. All responses are confidential, and results will be kept under lock and key or in password-protected files. Your participation is voluntary, and you may stop completing the survey at any time. This study is being conducted by Angela Caldwell, who can be reached at 412-323-7231, if you have any questions.
